Motivation
It is hard for me to believe the Canoe Two (AKA River Rats) have already been on the river for a month and a half and have covered more than 1000 miles. It just wore me out every time I read a log that referenced rain and head winds.
I can recount my own experiences where I was determined to accomplish a certain feat like summiting a fourteener, finishing a marathon or Ironman triathlon, 100 mile plus bike training rides, etc. etc! I could go on and on, not to demonstrate my accomplishments, but to demonstrate in-depth that I can identify with what Dave and Jim are faced with and what may have been a decision I would have made in their circumstances.
So here is my evaluation thus far: I may, at the end of one of those days when the rain was pouring down, the wind was blowing in their face, the current seem to be going up instead of down river, soaking wet, only managing a few miles progress, and (maybe the worst of all), NO BEER!; I think I may have considered chucking it all in, making a call and heading home. **
Not the River Rats!! These guys have demonstrated to me that, baring some kind of calamity, they will do whatever it takes to reach the Delta. Dave and Jim have earned my admiration and I am at awe when I read the obstacles they have overcome to be where they are now. May God bless you both and always remember the you are in my prayers daily!
Until next time,
Roy
** I think they probably found some way to get a beer!
