My name is Roy Robison! I’m 72 years old! I’m a runner (nearly 50,000 Miles and tons of races (Boston Marathon) over 46 years); I am a triathlete (Have done 3 Ironman Tris including the Ironman in Kona, HA); I am a hiker/climber (Have done twenty 14ers in Colorado including The Assault on Pikes Peak); A sailor (Have sailed in the Bahamas, BVIs, The Windward Islands; Wake Island, and both coasts of the USA); A traveler (Have been to the Orient, South America, the Caribbean, Great Britain, Europe and the Pacific)!

Now the question, you may ask is: What do Dave and I have in common? Well, actually we both appear in separate pictures in different parts of the world with our buddies completely naked and holding our caps over our things! That’s true!!

Really though, Dave and I met in Peachtree City, GA when were out Geocaching! I had a cache in my front yard called “It’s Five O’clock Someplace” and in it I invited the finder to drop in and have a beer. Dave did and has been coming back ever since!

Have very much enjoyed our talks on my front porch and found that we both had the same spirit for adventure and love for the outdoors. We also both don’t mind drinking a few beers.

I was able to connect Dave up with a friend of mine who did what he and Jim are doing right now. He received a lot of good and valuable input from Alex, my friend and I know it will have played a big role in the trip.

I am unable to be away from my house for any length of time because my wife is confined to a wheelchair and requires my assistance throughout the day. Dave and Jim are giving me an opportunity to have an adventure without having to leave the city limits. I am very grateful for that and will await eagerly all the updates that get posted.

I’ve also pledged to say a prayer everyday that they are on the river. May God bless the River Rats, keep the River Rats safe, present them with adventures they will never forget, and (like Trail Angels on the AT) make acquaintance with River Angels from Minnesota to Louisiana! It looks like they already have!!!
